Sara Carothers, LCSW LCADC

Sara Carothers is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She has been working with people for over 12 years with a variety of concerns. My philosophy in therapy is that difficulty in life is often related to imbalances between our personal beliefs, goals, and feelings, and the influences of our lives such as family, relationships, society, and work. I believe that many things in life can be balanced with moderation, mindfulness, change, and acceptance. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Spiritual counseling, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Focused therapy, Person-Centered therapy, and teaching techniques for anxiety reduction, depression, and coping skills for addiction recovery. I’ve lived in Hardin County Kentucky for almost 30 years. As an Army Brat, I’ve lived all over the U.S. and learned how to acclimate and get to know all manner of people and cultures. I am married in a heteronormative relationship. I have 4 beautiful daughters and one grandchild. I enjoy the outdoors, spending time with family, Karaoke, and riding my motorcycle. I grew up in a Christian church and have studied various religious beliefs to learn and grow my own spirituality. I am an advocate for LGBTQ individuals and understand and promote equality in all things. As a Libra, I strive for balance and promote balance as a healthy lifestyle. I would love an opportunity to work with you on your life goals. To help you find balance and peace in your relationships, work, and mind. I understand that choosing a therapist can be a very stressful and scary process. If you would, give me an opportunity to see if I can help you meet your goals. Thank you so much for considering me to be a part of your life journey.

Vanessa also enjoys bowling, knitting, and telling jokes. Vanessa’s goals are to continue growing, and learning, to further refine her skills to be the most effective form of support to you that she can be.
